In the battery energy storage system (BESS) project installed at Eksim Enerji's Killik wind farm site in the Killik neighborhood of the Merkez district of Tokat province, we served as the electrical works subcontractor under the client Chint Power Systems Elektrik San. ve Tic. A.S. We carried out the entire on-site electrical installation of the system as a single point of contact, from the electrical assembly of the battery and PCS containers during site placement to the cable infrastructure and commissioning support.

What is a BESS (battery energy storage system), and what does it do at a wind farm?+

A BESS is a system that stores electrical energy in battery containers and feeds it back to the grid when needed. At wind farms, generation fluctuates with the wind; a BESS balances these fluctuations, stores surplus generation, and contributes to grid stability. At the heart of the system are the battery modules and the PCS (power conversion system) units that convert DC energy into grid-compatible AC energy.

What is Miratek's scope in BESS projects?+

In BESS projects we take on all of the on-site electrical works: DC cable installation, battery module wiring, LV and signal cable runs between the PCS and battery containers, busbar connections, electrical assembly and connections during the placement of containers onto concrete foundations, grounding, site cable infrastructure, and testing and commissioning support. We work as the client's single point of contact on site.

How is a BESS integrated into wind farm and solar power plant sites?+

Battery containers, PCS units, and transformer containers are placed on concrete foundations prepared at the plant site; DC, LV, and signal wiring is completed, and the system is connected via the transformer to the plant's existing MV infrastructure. Grounding and site cable infrastructure are installed in coordination with the plant's existing installations. Miratek carries out the electrical assembly, connection, and commissioning steps of this integration end to end on site.
