Medium voltage is the level at which industrial facilities connect to the grid and energy is distributed within the site. MV projects in the 1-36 kV range are among a facility's most demanding engineering works in terms of the connection agreement, distribution company approval, and operational safety. An incorrectly sized MV system both prolongs the acceptance process and constrains future capacity increases.
In MV design, Miratek bases its work not on the facility's present load but on its planned growth. Cubicle selection, cable sizing calculations, protection coordination, and grounding design are prepared within a single design discipline under the Electrical High Current Installations Regulation and the distribution company specifications. Correspondence with the distribution company and the approval process are handled by Miratek.
Design delivery is planned as an integrated whole with the execution and commissioning stages. The client can take the design as a standalone deliverable or continue with the same team into turnkey execution.

How We Work
Site Survey and Load Analysis
The facility's existing and planned loads are mapped out; the connection point and supply scenarios are evaluated.
Connection Process
Connection opinion and agreement processes with the distribution company are managed, and the technical conditions are clarified.
Design and Calculations
The single-line diagram, cubicle layout, cable sizing and short-circuit calculations, and protection coordination are prepared.
Authority Approval
The design is submitted to the distribution company; revisions are handled and the approved design is delivered.
Execution and Commissioning Support
On request, installation supervision, testing, and commissioning services are provided by the same team.
Scope of Work
- Design of 1-36 kV MV distribution systems
- MV cubicle selection and layout design
- Power cable routing and sizing designs
- Short-circuit calculations and relay coordination
- Grounding system design and calculations
- Management of distribution company connection and approval processes
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we get power connected to our facility without an MV design?
No — an approved design from the distribution company is mandatory for every facility supplied at MV level. Miratek runs this process on your behalf, from the connection opinion stage through to the approved design.
We are planning a capacity increase — can the design allow for it?
Yes. Planned load growth is taken into account at the design stage, and cubicle count, busbar capacity, and cable cross-sections are sized accordingly. This approach avoids reinvestment and duplicate approval costs later on.
Can the design of an old existing MV installation be renewed?
Yes — an as-is survey of the existing installation is carried out and a revised design compliant with the current regulations is prepared. This work is required especially for capacity increases, cubicle renewals, or resolving non-conformities found in periodic inspections.
