High Voltage

High-voltage projects are the most critical link in the power transmission infrastructure. When a transmission line or switchyard at 154 kV and above is at stake, preparing the design in full compliance with TEİAŞ specifications and the Electrical High Current Installations Regulation is a precondition for both the acceptance process and operational safety. A faulty or incomplete HV design leads to serious delays and cost increases in the approval process.

Miratek handles high-voltage design as a single point of contact, from site survey to authority approval. Route study, tower type selection, conductor sizing calculations, insulation coordination, and grounding design are addressed within one engineering discipline, with every stage reported against the applicable regulations and standards. The client thus reaches an approved design without shouldering the burden of correspondence and revisions with the authorities.

Design deliverables are prepared at a level of detail that site teams can use directly during construction. This approach eliminates from the outset the errors that arise from the disconnect between design and contracting.

How We Work

1

Site Survey and Route Study

A site investigation is carried out; the most suitable line route is determined considering terrain, expropriation status, and existing infrastructure.

2

Preliminary Design and Authority Opinions

Tower types, conductor selection, and basic layout decisions are prepared as a preliminary design; opinions and permits are collected from the relevant authorities.

3

Engineering Calculations

Sizing, sag, short-circuit, insulation coordination, and grounding calculations are performed and reported in accordance with the regulations and standards.

4

Detailed Design

Profile sheets, tower schedule tables, and installation details are drawn at a level directly usable in the field.

5

Authority Approval

The design file is submitted to TEİAŞ and the relevant authorities; revision requests are handled by Miratek and the approval process is concluded.

6

Construction Support

On request, engineering support is provided during construction and as-built drawings are prepared.

Scope of Work

  • Design of power transmission lines at 154 kV and above
  • Switchyard and step-down substation layout and electrical designs
  • Route study, profiling, and tower spotting works
  • Short-circuit, sag, and insulation coordination calculations
  • Grounding and lightning protection design
  • Management of TEİAŞ and other authority approval processes
  • As-built drawings and documentation

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TEİAŞ approval mandatory for a high-voltage project?

For transmission-level installations, compliance with TEİAŞ specifications and authority approval are mandatory. Miratek prepares the design file in the authority's format, submits it, and resolves revision requests in-house to conclude the approval process.

What determines the design duration?

Line length, expropriation and permitting along the route, and the turnaround time of authority opinions are the main factors. After the site survey, a realistic schedule is presented to you and the process is tracked against that plan.

Can we procure only the design and have another firm do the construction?

Yes, design can be provided as a standalone service. Deliverables are prepared at a level of detail any contractor can execute; if you prefer, construction and commissioning can also be delivered by Miratek within its contracting scope, through a single point of contact.
